Sharkathon is Sugar Creek's major fundraiser of the year. It includes 8 days of collecting pledges, earning prizes, and participating in school spirit activities. Sharkathon week culminates in a Fun Run where students will run, walk, jog, dance, skip, and hop their way around a track for up to 35 laps.
HOW IT WORKS
Students call, email, or visit family and friends and ask them for pledges per lap based on the 35 lap run. For instance, if someone pledges $1 per lap, then that pledge is a $35 donation and so on. Flat donations of an amount are also accepted and will count towards helping students reach the various prize levels. For instance, one flat donation of $20 plus another flat donation of $15 will bring a student to the $1 per lap prize level.
KEEPING TRACK OF PLEDGES
Students will receive a Sharkathon t-shirt and their own giving guide. This is where you can enter and keep track of pledges and see what prize levels have been earned.
PAYMENT OF PLEDGES
Pledges may be paid online anytime at funrun.com using a major credit card. Once the run is complete, your student's sponsors will also automatically receive and email the address they entered when pledging to provide them with the online payment option. Pledges may also be paid by check or cash in the collection envelope that will be sent home after the Fun Run. We accept matching donations from businesses.
INCENTIVES
All students will receive a t-shirt. They may wear their shirt as often as they like during Sharkathon week, but please be sure they wear it on the day of the Fun Run.
Spirit Week Champions: All week students will earn points for their grade level by participating in spirit week dress up days and by collecting pledges. At the end of the week, the grade who collected the most points dressing up and the grade who collected the most pledges will be named spirit week champions. These champions will win a special prize.
Individual prizes: Prize levels start at $1 per lap and continue at $2, $3, $5, $7, $10, $15, $20, $30, and $50 per lap. Prizes are available to view online at funrun.com.
Class Pledge Incentives: Class incentives will be established by each teacher and will vary. There may also be special challenges prizes awarded to class winners throughout the week.
